特に、ビジネスでは、根拠付けはマストです。
今回は、理由・根拠を述べるための「だから」「なので」を表す英語表現と、それぞれの意味や使われ方の違いについてご紹介します。
一般的に使える「だから」の英語表現
会話の中で一般的に使える表現です。
使い勝手は良いですが、毎回同じ表現を使って、発言が単調にならないよう、注意しましょう。
so（～だから、～なので）
「だから」「なので」「そのため」と訳すことが多く、前の文が原因や理由、”so”で続く後の文がその結果を示します。
原因を述べてから結果を述べる日本の文章の作り方と相性がよいため、日本人には使いやすい「だから」です。
The company experienced a decrease in sales last quarter, so they decided to implement a new marketing strategy.
その会社は前四半期の売り上げが減少したので、新しいマーケティング戦略を導入することにしました。
The project timeline was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances, so the team had to adjust their deliverable dates.
予期しない事情により、プロジェクトのスケジュールが遅れたので、チームは納品日を調整しなければなりませんでした。
and（～だから、～ので）
“and”は単純に2つの文を連結するのに使われるもので、その因果関係を強く示すわけではありません。
しかし、文脈によっては「だから」という意味になることもあります。
We didn’t reach our sales target this quarter, and we will need to revise our strategy.
今四半期は販売目標に達しなかったので、戦略を見直す必要があります。

主に口語表現で使われ、前後のフレーズ・文の因果関係を強調します。

原因や理由を示すのに使われ、”because”の後に原因を示す文が来ます。
結果より「理由」「原因」の方が、より重要な場合に使います。

We are investing in new technology because we believe it will help us stay competitive.

since（～だから、～なので）
“since”は、原因を示す文と結果を示す文を繋げます。
“since”を使う場合は、理由より結果の方に重点が置かれます。
Since we have received positive feedback from our customers, we will continue with our current strategy.
お客様から良好なフィードバックを頂いているため、現在の戦略を続けることにします。
Since our product is in high demand, we are planning to increase production.
私たちの製品は非常に需要が高いため、生産量を増やす予定です。
as（～だから、～なので）
“as” の後に、原因・理由を示す節が来ます。
since と同様、理由より結果の方に重点が置かれます。
“as” は “because” や “since” と比べてややフォーマルな印象を与えます。また、”as” は原因・理由を示すだけでなく、時間を示す際にも使われるため、文脈によっては少し解釈が複雑になることがあります。
As the data clearly supports our hypothesis, we should proceed with the next phase of the project.

due to に比べると若干フォーマルになります。
