英語表現１ stay about the same as ～ is now：今の状態とほとんど変わらない

Markets have been rising and falling for the last 18 months. I think for at least the remainder of the year, they’re going to stay about the same as they are now. Next year, however, may be a different story.
マーケットは、過去18か月間上昇と下降を続けています。 少なくとも今年の残りの期間は、今の状態とほとんど変わらないと思います。しかし、来年は違うかもしれません。

英語表現2　stay about the same：ほとんど変わらない

I am not sure that this will happen. My guess is that they might stay about the same as they are now. But if the infrastructure of a country spreads, for instance by enhancing communication and transportation networks further afield, I think there will always be a portion of the population that takes up the option to move to a more remote and spacious location.

英語表現6　plateau：横這い状態になる／頭打ちになる

Japan’s vaccination rate has improved considerably in the past several weeks, but the rate is expected to plateau in the near future, and a significant portion of our population still won’t be vaccinated.
日本のワクチン接種率は過去数週間で大幅に伸びましたが、近い将来横ばいになると予想されており、人口のかなりの部分がまだ予防接種を受けずにいるでしょう。

plateau は名詞では、「高原」や「台地」。動詞で、「横ばい状態に達する」「頭打ちになる」という意味です。山登りをして、まっすぐ広がる高原や台地に達したときをイメージすると、「横這いになる」という動詞が想像できますね。

英語表現7　hit a plateau：横這いになっている

I took any experiences which were available. I learned a lot but I feel like I’ve hit a plateau.

The temperature there remains constant fairly throughout the year.
そこの気温は一年中ほぼ変わりません。

英語表現11　maintain the status quo：現状維持する

Its sales were very high at that time so our company chose not to make any changes, to maintain the status quo.
当時の売上高は非常に高かったので、私たちの会社は、何も変更せず、現状を維持することにきめました。

「status quo」はラテン語が語源で、the state in which __ という意味です。ですから、maintain the status quo で「その状況を維持する」「現状維持」という表現となります。

英語表現11　keep the status quo：現状維持する

The Diet members are middle-aged or older men who are heavy smokers, and they want to keep the status quo.
国会議員は、ヘビースモーカーの中高年の男性たちであり、現状維持を望んでいます。

the status quoは、preserve, maintain, challenge, restore という動詞と一緒によく使われています。

As for people in their twenties, they grew up in an economy of stagnating growth.
